OUR STORY
My father, Gerry Brown, is a builder, woodworker and carver.
He was my first mentor and teacher. Here he is in 1958 building his first tiny home.

HE STARTED HIS OWN COMPANY, FLOATING WORLD WOOD DESIGN, WHERE HE SPECIALIZED IN FINELY CRAFTED,
HAND-CARVED ARTS AND CRAFTS STYLE DOORS. WE'VE EVEN HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO COLLABORATE ON A FEW PROJECTS.

I grew up literally working under him so I picked up a lot along the way. In 2013 we recreated the original picture for fun.
My training continued with furniture and cabinetmaking classes in high school and college, including a work-study program in Furniture and Sculpture Design at Penland School of Craft. In 2001 I built my first tiny home with my father Gerry - a 400 square foot cottage in my parents' backyard. The Japanese art inspired tiny house included my father's
wood carvings and craftsman doors, and stained glass by my artist mother Catharine. Believing homes should be beautiful as well as efficient and sustainable, I added to my education with green building certifications in Sustainability,
Energy Auditing, Solar PV, and a General Contracting License.

I started Wishbone Tiny Homes in 2013 in Asheville, NC, where it is still an active company.
It has been a successful venture, receiving positive media coverage across the nation
and around the world, including features in two episodes of
Tiny House Nation. Our homes have also been seen on Tiny House Hunters,
ABC News with Diane Sawyer, M6 French TV, as well as several publications including books, magazines, and newspaper. Go to our PRESS section to find links to all our appearances.

With our growing family, we decided to grow our business too with a move to Sullivan County in upstate New York. Wishbone Construction is an addition to the long history of craftsmanship and artistry that defines the region. It's also a chance to inspire our children to build upon my family's legacy of art and design, and beautiful fine home building.
